As a military service member, you will qualify for either a military discount of $25 off market rent or to participate in RPP for additional benefits. If you participate in the Rental Partnership Program you can enjoy 5% discount off your rent, plus $0 security deposit, $0 application fee and $0 administrative fee^[2] while paying your rent through allotment taken directly from your paycheck.

Military Family Housing Terms

BAH stands for Basic Allowance for Housing. It is a benefit that the military provides to service members who are not provided with government housing. BAH is intended to help service members cover the cost of housing in the private sector. The amount of BAH that a service member receives depends on their rank, location, and whether or not they have dependents.

PCS stands for Permanent Change of Station. It is the process of relocating service members and their families from one duty station to another. PCS orders typically require service members to move to a new duty station for a period of at least one year. The military provides a range of resources to help service members and their families navigate the PCS process, including assistance with finding housing and arranging for the transport of their belongings.

TLA stands for Temporary Lodging Allowance. It is a benefit that the military provides to service members who are in the process of relocating and need temporary lodging while they search for permanent housing. TLA is intended to help service members cover the cost of lodging, meals, and incidental expenses while they are staying in temporary accommodations. The amount of TLA that a service member receives depends on their rank, location, and whether or not they have dependents.

ETS stands for Expiration of Term of Service. It refers to the date on which a service member’s military contract ends. When service members are nearing their ETS date, they may be required to vacate their military housing and find new accommodations. The military provides a range of resources to help service members and their families find new housing as they transition out of the military.

RPP stands for Rental Partnership Program, which is a program that allows private landlords to enter into rental agreements with military installations. RPP eligible housing refers to properties that meet the criteria to participate in the Rental Partnership Program.

To be eligible for the RPP program, a property must meet certain requirements, such as being located within a certain distance of the military installation and meeting certain safety and quality standards. Service members benefit from the program by having access to high-quality rental housing that is conveniently located near the installation and meets their needs.
